By appreciating the science of sleep, we can begin to problem-solve relevant strategies and adaptations in support of sleep dysregulation across the lifespan. While this course was originally designed for occupational therapists asking for help in supporting their clients, it is now being made available for anyone who is interested in making the most of how we spend 1/3 of our life.

This 13 hour online workshop is a cutting-edged compilation of research on the science of eating and feeding from a neurobiological/physiological perspective as it pertains to picky eating, eating disorders (ARFID, anorexia nervosa, bulimia), sensory issues, oral motor/pharyngeal issues and attachment. Trans-disciplinary research, assessment and intervention strategies will be presented and discussed. 12 hours of edited, pre-recorded training will be complemented by a live interactive online 60 minute Q&A led by Kim and co-facilitated by the Relationship Matters Team.

Based on Kim Barthel, OTR’s most prolific and well-attended workshop in her career, this online 11 hour pre-recorded workshop (with 60 minute live Q&A) will provide a deeper understanding of why people do what they do. The focus will be on complex and challenging behaviour, and using clinical reasoning to look well beyond the surface actions we observe.

This 18-hour intensive dive into the development and integration of the vestibular and visual systems offers clinicians the opportunity to understand the impact that their interconnectedness has upon function and intervention. Neuroscience guides clinical reasoning and problem-solving, offering validation with evidence for our treatment selections. Occupational Therapists and Physical Therapists will have the opportunity to bridge theory to practice through lecture and videotape analysis, delivered via pre-recorded modules. Although the goal of this course is primarily to support pediatric rehabilitation, the concepts will be applicable across the lifespan. This is an intermediate-level learning experience, and neurodiversity within a wide range of diagnostic categories will be explored.

Movement challenges are the functional limitations most often neglected in the treatment of children with ASD. Current motor control literature and neurobiological research highlight the motor systems impairments in the increasing prevalence of the ASD diagnosis. Neuro-Developmental Treatment (NDT) is a frame of reference that guides clinicians in the analysis and treatment of posture and movement. This cutting-edge workshop will apply NDT principals, assessment, and intervention in treating the movement challenges of children on the spectrum. Comparing and contrasting between ASD compensatory motor patterns and typical motor development will be emphasized, offering a foundation for the facilitation of new motor learning through lecture, videotape analysis and virtual lab. This on-demand online learning experience will be available for viewing for 365 days.

Neurobiology explores the processes that occur within the brain, body and mind, which influence a person’s development, mental health, behaviour and well-being.

This 8 hour pre-recorded and edited workshop sheds light on the profound impact of trauma on students’ development, relationships, motivation and learning. This 15 hour intensive dive into well-being offers clinicians, educators, and people who support others, the opportunity to understand the impact that their social emotional skills have in their lives and how to grow these skills. Neuroscience guides the content, offering validation with evidence for our daily choices that impact well-being. You will have the opportunity to bridge theory to practice through content delivery, discussion, reflection, and practice delivered live virtually, with access to recordings after delivery. Although the goal of this workshop is primarily to support you in the work you are doing now, the concepts will be applicable across all areas of your life.
