Jhamtse Gatsal Children’s Community

In addition to the work we do, here are some remarkable initiatives that we care deeply about:

o Jhamtse Gatsal Children’s Community, A key passion for Kim and Bob (along with their 25 year-old daughter Lista) is supporting the well-being and sustainability of this unique home and school in a remote corner of the Himalayas of India. This community and its co-founder Lobsang Phuntsok are deeply inspirational - heart-warming living examples of resilience, love and compassion. Their stories are shared in the multi-award winning documentary Tashi and the Monk, by Andrew Hinton and Johnny Burke. Bob is honoured to serve on the board of Jhamtse International, and Kim assists as needed as the community’s Therapeutic Director. Learn More…

o Healing from Trauma: Kim effectively collaborates with several gifted and influential beings on this topic, including Lobsang Phuntsok, Malcolm Wong, Gabor Maté, and most prolifically, with her close friend Theo Fleury. Kim and Theo love to work together because of the way they can reach people of different backgrounds and experiences, and because when they co-present, they can see that lives are being changed. Aside from day-long healing events, corporate mental health sessions and developing video resources, they speak in prisons with inmates and guards alike. Their aim is to prevent emotional pain, stop the cycle of trauma and get people the help they need. The book Kim and Theo co-authored, Conversations with a Rattlesnake: Raw and Honest Reflections on Healing and Trauma, (co-edited by Bob), is a national bestseller in Canada. Learn More…

o The Breaking Free Foundation based in Alberta, Canada. This foundation, with its key spokesperson Theo Fleury and other committed volunteers, advocates across Canada for the healing of all forms of trauma. Kim and Bob both serve as honorary advisors to the board. Learn More…
