Have you experienced moments of losing connection with your well-being at work? Is your energy running low? Are you sometimes feeling distant to the passion of what nurtures your connection to what matters most?
When we experience fatigue (whether it be emotionally, physically, mentally, or spiritually), it can be harder to draw from the wellspring of our connection to self and to the work we do. As the number of individuals requesting professional support in the world increases and as their contexts become more complex, people in the helping professions are increasingly required to learn to take care of themselves.
As professionals we spend much of our time learning the theories in the pursuit of perfecting our craft, often working harder, faster and longer in effort to get it all done. Exhaustion and overwhelm are no longer prerequisites for climbing the career ladder, rather its the ability to remain grounded and cool headed in high pressure situations, avoiding burnout and good communication. The key to performing at your highest potential is creating space and room for recuperation, creativity and good relationships.
Showing up in ways that are in alignment with our values and truest selves benefits us, the people we support, and our workplaces. We know we cannot pour from an empty cup. This is the principle with which we begin our exploration together. While expanding our social emotional intelligence skills throughout this unique three-day workshop, we will be reminded of strategies we have available towards developing fuller consciousness. For those relatively new to this practice, social emotional intelligence is the ability to develop, enhance, and care for our connectedness to ourselves and others in authentic and meaningful ways. An important aspect of this is deepening our ability to self-regulate. Being informed by our emotional states helps us to know and transform how we show up in relationships.
This 15 hour (approx 14 hours of pre-recorded modules + 60 minute live Q&A) intensive dive into well-being offers clinicians, educators, and people who support others, the opportunity to understand the impact that their social emotional skills have in their lives and how to grow these skills. Neuroscience guides the content, offering validation with evidence for our daily choices that impact well-being. You will have the opportunity to bridge theory to practice through content delivery, discussion, reflection, and practice delivered via pre-recorded course modules + 1 live 60 minute Q&A . Although the goal of this workshop is primarily to support you in the work you are doing now, the concepts will be applicable across all areas of your life.
This powerful workshop experience FOCUSEs on the art of interpersonal practice as much as its science.

Module #1
Contemporary Perspectives in the Neurobiology of Consciousness
What the Research is Helping Us Understand
The last decade of neuroscience has offered a deeper and different understanding of how we experience the world around us, impacting our capacity to positively influence through the actions we choose. We will explore some of this research and its application to our work.
Module #2
Practical Applications of Awareness – The Four Elements of Experience
Introduction to the Experience Cube as an Awareness Tool
At any moment, we can choose to bring awareness to what we are experiencing in the world around us. To better understand our experience, we break it down into four main areas: observations, thoughts, feelings, and needs. The Experience Cube is a model of experience and tool for all of us to support this process. We will explore each element and show examples of how to put this into action.
Module #3
Core Values and Principle Centred Living
Developing Awareness of our own Core Values and Principles
Understanding the Difference between Intention vs Impact within any Interaction
As we show up in our work, it is important to identify what we stand for, in other words, what our core values are and what principles we want to embody. By identifying these core values and principles, we begin to understand the root cause of both pleasure and challenge in our lives. When our actions align with our values, we foster a sense of well-being. In this section, we will explore ways to identify value alignment and principle centered living and how this influences others.
Module #4
H-Artful Communication
Transparency, Clarity, Boundaries, and Communication that keep us in Connection
Effective communication skills are the tools we use to create positive, enduring impact. The communication process begins with our desire to communicate something in order to create some kind of result; to instruct, inspire, impact, or influence someone else in a positive way. Communication is a ‘means to an end’. It is a tool that, when used effectively, can connect us in ways that honour the relationship with ourselves and with others. To be effective at this, we need to be focused and intentional when we communicate. In this module, we will focus on creating a solid foundation of communication skills, reviewing skills that make it more likely to be connected and understood in meaningful ways.
Module #5
Self-Regulation and Self-Compassion
Turning Inwards to Support Others
Our ability to acknowledge, experience, and use our emotions as information to inform our actions, are elements of self-regulation. Our ability to self-regulate can directly contribute to our wellbeing. As we evolve these skills, and reflect on what makes it challenging, being compassionate with ourselves is important. In this section, we explore self-regulation and self-compassion practices.
Module #6
The Curious Self
Collaboration with Colleagues and Expansion of your Self within your Therapeutic Practice
Being curious is a vital part of creating and maintaining trusting, meaningful relationships. It requires both openness to understanding someone else’s experience and the ability to find out. The mastery of the Curious Self is the ability to support others' awareness and sharing of their experience and what they need and want. Everyone has some curiosity, but there are many things that can get in our way, impacting our relationships and ultimately our wellbeing. We can all increase our curiosity skills, and in this section we will review some techniques to come back into our curiosity.
