Course Description:
Kim will lead this virtual and interactive workshop for child welfare professionals, and will highlight the value of coaching caregivers into becoming active partners in their children’s therapeutic healing process. She will explore a range of interpersonal skills that support building and maintaining relationships, such as attunement, secure attachment, co-regulation, and effective communication. Modeling these skills ourselves, as professionals, is the first step in helping caregivers put them into practice. Additionally, helping caregivers recognize the various factors that may influence their child’s complex behaviours will increase their compassion, mindfulness, and appreciation of therapeutic reasoning. This workshop is hosted by Fresno Co. Aspiranet REACH Post Adoption Program.
