A "Community of Practice" is a mindset of being on the same team as everyone else in your community towards supporting individuals with complex needs. Mental health, addictions, developmental disabilities - these are multi-faceted challenges that not only require care but collaboration. This workshop focuses on networking and sharing information, and can lead to more effective service provision and a significant increase in job satisfaction. These couple days are open for anyone who would like to be a part of Yellowknife moving away from silo-based practices that may, in worst case situations, appear redundant, ineffective and soul-draining. People who gravitate to this workshop often include but are not limited to the following professions: social work, therapy of all kinds, child-care, mental health, education, justice, first responders, corrections, RCMP, defense, hospital staff, even hair stylists and politicians. It’s for anyone who works with people who require support, and who wants to be a part of building a stronger and more connected work community.

Aug 23rd and 24th will be invested in understanding trauma-informed principals that help people understand each other, and exploring challenges and local solutions that can be collectively addressed.
