Kim is pleased to be joining Camp Jabiru in Australia, April 20-24, 2020.
Camp Jabiru is based upon the Camp Avanti model in the United States. The aim of Camp Jabiru is for children to have a typical camp experience with the addition of therapeutic intervention to support and facilitate successful individual participation and group experience. Camp is physically challenging and places demands on your child socially. However, the rewards of a successful week of camp are many. Improved self confidence, better self-organization, improved personal accountability, better ability to “be a friend,” and improved ability to handle feelings and negotiate conflicts are just some of the outcomes typical from a week of camp.
Colleen has over 20 years of experience with Camp Avanti in the United States and has implemented successful day camp programs for school-age children and preschoolers while in practice in North Carolina. She is thrilled to be offering this opportunity in Australia as a means of extending the services offered to the community by The Sensory Gym.
For this year, the goal is to provide the Camp Jabiru experience for more than 120 campers. Camp will be staffed by a highly skilled team of occupational therapists, OT Students and YMCA outdoor education staff. An intensive adult to child ratio ensures that every child succeeds.
